Ladakh Marathon 2022 – 9th Edition

AGE ELIGIBILITY as on 11th September 2022 for various races is:

Half Marathon (21.1 KM)  16 years
Marathon (42.1 KM)  18 years
Khardung La Challenge (72 KM)  20 years
 Silk Route Ultra (122 KM)  24 years
 Veterans (all races)  50 years

 

Besides the age limit runners should be in good physical condition to adapt and be able to run at high altitude. 

The following criteria are mandatory for all runners of all races, except the 05 km Run Ladakh for Fun. Entries for these categories will be screened and if you do not fulfil the requirement the organiser has the right to reject your application. It is imperative to arrive in Leh well in time and as recommended here.

Registration fee is non-refundable in case of event cancellation due to circumstances that are beyond the control of the organisers such as natural disasters, war, pandemic etc, and in such a case all confirmed registrations will be deferred to next year.
All participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to register for the 9th edition of Ladakh Marathon.

NOTE: Considering the unprecedented pandemic since 2020, the eligibility criteria are revised to qualify for the 9th edition of Ladakh Marathon. Timings (with certificates) for marathons completed in 2019 or stadium runs from year 2020 onwards will be accepted. Timings of virtually run marathons or Strava timings will not be accepted. Participants for the Silk Route Ultra and Khardung la Challenge will need to arrive and report in Leh at least 10 days in advance.

Stadium runs are not mandatory. By stadium runs we mean runs completed in person in a stadium from year 2020 onwards because of the pandemic. If you already have eligible marathon (s) with finisher certificate, as per eligibility criteria, you can go ahead and register. (Please note that virtually run timings will not be accepted).

 

10.5 Km Run

Runner must have completed two 10 km runs under 1 hour 30 minutes in past three years prior to the race day.

Note: Stadium runs (with finisher certificate) from year 2020 onwards will also be accepted (Timings of virtually run marathons or Strava timings are not acceptable)

HALF MARATHON

Runner who fulfils any one option listed below is eligible to register for this race.

  • Finisher of 2019 Ladakh Marathon – 21 Km or 42 Km
  • Runner must have completed EITHER one half marathon under 3 hours OR two 10 km runs under 1 hour 25 mins in past three years prior to the race day.

Note: Stadium runs (with finisher certificate) from year 2020 onwards will also be accepted. (Timings of virtually run marathons or Strava timings are not acceptable)

MARATHON

Runner who fulfils any one option listed below is eligible to register for this race.

  • Finisher of 2019 Ladakh Marathon – 42 Km
  • Runner must have completed EITHER one full marathon OR two half marathons in past three years prior to the race day.

Note:Stadium runs (with finisher certificate) from year 2020 onwards will also be accepted. (Timings of virtually run marathons or Strava timings are not acceptable)

KHARDUNG LA CHALLENGE

Runner who fulfils any one option listed below is eligible to APPLY for this race.

  • Finisher of 2019 Ladakh Marathon – 42 Km and 72 Km
  • Two full marathon under 5 hrs in past three years prior to the race day.
  • Two ultra marathon over 70 km in past three years prior to the race day.
  • A full marathon under 5 hrs and an ultra marathon over 70 km in past three years prior to the race day.

Note: Stadium run (with finisher certificate) within cut-off time from year 2020 onwards will also be accepted. (Timings of virtually run marathons or Strava timings are not acceptable)

Application will be confirmed once documents submitted towards eligibility criteria have been verified within 5 to 7 working days, after which payment link will be shared. The organiser reserves the right to disallow / disqualify any participant who is known or suspected to be physically unfit to participate in this race.

Please note that the number of participants to this race is restricted to a maximum of 200 runners.

SILK ROUTE ULTRA

Runner who fulfils any one option listed below is eligible to APPLY for this race.

  • Finisher of Khardung La Challenge 2019.
  • Finisher of Khardungla Challenge of previous years but having either an  ultra marathon (over 100 km) certificate or marathon certificate (under 5 hrs) in past three years prior to race day.
  • Finisher of two ultra marathons which are over 100 km in past three years prior to race day.
  • Finisher of a WTC Ironman race in past three years prior to race day.

Note: Stadium run within cut-off time from year 2020 onwards will also be accepted (Timings of virtually run marathons or Strava timings are not acceptable)

Application will be confirmed once documents submitted towards eligibility criteria have been verified within 2 to 7 working days, after which payment link will be shared. The organiser reserves the right to disallow / disqualify any participant who is known or suspected to be physically unfit to participate in this race.

.Please note that the number of participants to this race is restricted to a maximum of 50 runners.
Besides the above, the following nationalities cannot participate in the Silk Route Ultra and the Khardung La Challenge as they are excluded from the restricted area permit which is required for the Khardung La pass
a) Citizens of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Pakistan and foreign nationals having their origin in these countries
b) Diplomatic passport holders
