PARTICIPATION MODALITIES

The V Anantapur Ultramarathon includes the following races:

  1. The Anantapur Community Run (Wednesday, January 22, 2020)

  2. The Anantapur Relay Ultramarathon (Start: Friday, 24 January / Finish: Saturday, 25 January 2020)

  3. The Anantapur 10K (Saturday, January 25, 2020)

1. Anantapur Community Run (optional)

This is a relay race, held at Anantapur Sports Village (RDT Sports Campus)

  • All participants of Anantapur Relay Ultramarathon are encouraged to participate in this run.
  • Teams of 8 runners: 4 Ultramarathon runners and 4 children with/without disabilities.
  • Each pair (1 Ultramarathon runner + 1 child with/without disabilities) covers 4 KM (each relay: 2 KM) around the Anantapur Sports Village.
  • Each team cumulatively covers a total of 32 km.
  • Duration: 4 hours.

2. Anantapur Relay UltraMarathon

A 170K relay race across the Anantapur district by teams of four people, each running about 42km.

  • The race runs along local roads and unpaved tracks through small villages. RDT’s facilities will serve as a basis for relay stations, re-provisioning to keep running until the next control point.
  • Each team will have a captain who liaises with the Directorate of the race.
  • Relays will be done approximately every 10 km. The total race will have 16 relay/transition points.There will be 16 starting points, one for each relay, and each group will leave together.
  • There are fixed departure times for each Group and closing times in each transition/relay. Runners can rest and re-provision while waiting for their next relay.
  • Once the time is over, runners will be picked up by the race organizers and will be taken to their next transition zone to continue the race.
  • Participants can only run the assigned relays.
  • All teams will receive a roadmap that will inform the level of mileage, type of terrain, the names of the villages during the itinerary and where they can eat and rest.
  • To ensure the security of runners, we count on the presence of the Anantapur Local police, support vehicles with track officials, medical staff, and ambulances.
  • The starting point is RDT Main Campus, the UltraMarathon will finish at Vicente Ferrer’s resting place in the Bathalapalli hospital complex.
  • The organization will provide part of the supplies (fruit, water, isotonic drinks, juices, nuts, pasta) but we recommend runners to bring their own supplies (sticks, gels, etc.)
  • The organization reserves the right to extend or reduce the number of teams or participants for security reasons or for other reasons.
  • Each runner will be assigned with an individual dorsal.
  • A special runners’ bag will be provided to every runner in Anantapur.
  • A preparatory meeting will be held on the first two days in Anantapur.

3. THE ANANTAPUR 10K

This will be the second edition of the Anantapur 10k, an individual race aimed at encouraging local participation. The runners in this modality will join the ultramarathoners on their last stretch until the finishing point in RDT Hospital, Bathalapalli.
