About Freemasonry
Freemasonry is the world's oldest fraternity with a continuous recorded history of more than 300 years and anecdotal history of more than 600 years. Taking origins from the stonemasons, and tracing its roots to Biblical times, it aims to make each one 'practice every moral and social virtue.' In Mumbai, the earliest Freemason Lodges have been meeting for more than 250 years and Freemasons' Hall (opp Sterling Cinema, the venue for this lecture meeting) is a purpose-built Grade II heritage building of 127 years vintage.
Access to the premises is generally restricted to Freemasons, but this Memorial Lecture will provide a not-so-often opportunity to visit the Temple and for the benefit of non-Masons, a guided tour of the Temple and its significance has also been arranged.
