The India Running Summit 2014 – Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony was a quick and crisp one.

Mr. P. Venkatraman, Chief Running Evangelist, YouTooCanRun, went on to touch upon the need to have The India Running Summit. He said that based on the way running was growing in our country, there needed to be Pan India Summit, where not only runners could come and talk about how to promote running, but also India specific research could be highlighted. Also needed was a space where the various participants in the business of running could network and promote running in healthy manner..

After his brief address, the lamp was lit by Major DP Singh, who being India’s first blade runner and who is source of inspiration for all runners. He lit the lamp to signify the illumination that the Summit would throw on its participants and then took over as the Master of Ceremonies for the rest of the proceedings.
