Storytelling on Running – An Unique event
YouTooCanRun was happy and proud to be associated in a unique event put together for the running community.
Kommune, led by Roshan Abbas, has been doing story telling sessions around various topics such as Food, Travel etc. At the suggestion of Dr Shayamal Vallabhjee of Heal Institute, Kommune was excited to do a session centered around the theme of Running. Puma readily agreed to sponsor the event.
YouTooCanRun was happy to work with Dr Shayamal and curate the speakers for the event. They were shortlisted for not only being an interesting mix of personalities but also known to hold the audience on the stage. Themes were shortlisted and each of the speaker was mentored based on the Kommune guidelines for the event. The guidelines are that each story can be for only 5 minutes. So one has to be short and crisp.
The speakers and the respective topics were
Natasha Tuli – Running after a brain hemorrhage
Shashidhar Shankar – How the BNP Endurathon 25.0 came to be born
Kripa Sagar – How she lost 8 kilos and alos 25 years as a runner
Maria Govetti – Beating the shit out of other mothers at he school PTA run
Pooja Dhingra – Training and running for her first Half Marathon
Suchita Varadkar – Each run of her is a tribute to her guide and mentor the late Eva Fernandes
Amarjeet Chawla – Visual impairment and the challenges of training and participation
Roshan Abbas – His victorious lap in standard 9 at school
P. Venkatraman – Measuring success by the quality of his photos at each event
Swaminathan Subramanian – The ignominy of being a slow runner
The event was a ‘by invite only’ event and a select audience of runners were invited. It was a full house and a rocking time was had by all. Runners and speakers appreciated the unique putting together of the event.
Thanks to all for the opportunity provided.
